History of the Club

Tennis has been played at Queen's Road, for close to 100 years. This 1934 photograph (above) depicts lawn tennis being played on the New 'En Tout Cas' courts which refered to the all-weather nature of the playing surface.

Above Left: The wooden built College hall 1933 stood on the site of what is now the Millennium Pavillion and no.2 bowling green. Prior to its destruction by fire in 1933 it was widely used for musical concerts and conferences.
Above right: This picture was taken from the back of court 2. Local photographer Glynne Pickford was taking a stroll one Sunday afternoon, and like all good photographers had his camera with him. He noticed smoke coming from the college hall and just as he arrived the roof collapsed, giving rise to the thick black smoke seen in the photo.
